Charlotte Hill is a naturalist who uses art to connect Bay Area youth to nature. In her 15 years as Director of Kids in Parks she saw how art created transformative experiences for students, and within nature for the youth she worked with and she found her own passion for teaching. Charlotte uses a variety of media to engage students: poetry, reflections, landscape paintings, flipbooks, journaling, rubbings, book making, kite making, habitat gardens, drawing, sculpture and dance. Charlotte works in the classroom and outside.
Charlotte started her professional life as a filmmaker. She created experimental, documentary and corporate films and videos. Originally from the East Coast, the environment of California was alien and unreadable to her. Learning about and observing all the incredible nature in the Bay Area became the focus and her passion. Charlotte loves sharing that enthusiasm and passion with children, and getting them excited about the natural world through art.
