Born and raised in Haiti, Jeff Pierre recently graduated from San Francisco School of the Arts, where he majored in instrumental Music.
Trained by his mother Florencia Pierre, Jeff has played traditional Haitian percussion since the age of three. He grew up playing and touring in Haiti for the "Institut de danse JAKA". He started teaching in Haiti in summer camps when he turned eight. After his experiences teaching with kids, adults and teenagers, he began his private classes at the age of ten. Jeff has traveled to places such as Martinique for the well- known festival of African Diaspora called "le grand cri negre" in SERMAC (1999), and Occidental College, Los Angeles, CA (2008) to perform professionally as lead percussionist.
Jeff is currently the lead drummer for the AFOUTAYI dance company in San Francisco.
