Jessica Bates is an actress, singer-songwriter, teacher, and choreographer. She has been performing and teaching professionally for twenty years. She trained at The Central School of Speech and Drama in London. While abroad, she performed with the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival and Edinburgh's Fringe Festival.
In the US, she has worked with esteemed choreographer Martha Clarke and played lead roles in two National Tours in addition to performing with many Regional Theatres across the country. Three years ago, she helped to spearhead a new educational outreach program called Primary Shakespeare in NY, which introduces elementary school students to the wonders of Shakespeare. Since relocating to the Bay Area a year ago, she has worked as a teaching artist with SFartsED, Leap, and Word for Word and performed with Capital Stage, and the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. She is thrilled to be part of the tremendous Leap team and looking forward to the adventures that lay ahead in the coming year!
