Kim holds an M.F.A. from the California Institute of the Arts and a B.F.A. from the University of Utah, both in dance.
From 1998-2003, she directed Shipp Dance Theatre, a non-profit, Modern Dance Company dedicated to bringing interactive, dance experiences to the public. In 2001, Kim was named one of Dance Magazine's "25 To Watch."
Kim has worked in California schools for the past 17 years. She has been a Resident Artist for Young Audienes, Starting Arts, and Leap, among others. She taught for four years at Horrall Elementary School, a Magnet for the Performing and Visual Arts. At Horrall, she developed a dance program and training teachers how to integrate movement into their classroom curriculum. Currently, Kim co-teaches dance to all K-2nd graders in the Palo Alto School District through the "Dance in the Schools" program. In the summers, Kim teachers and choreographs at Palo Alto Children's Theater Summer Academy Program.
