Linda Lam

Do your students like to make things move? Do you want them involved and thinking? Do you enjoy watching them discover new things?

Linda works with students to help them understand the physical world they live in and explore the concepts of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). Linda spent 8 years as the Art Coordinator at Garfield Elementary School, where she worked with students constructing props for the Chinese New Year Day Parades. Linda also led a mural project during a residency at Garfield which incorporated the students' hand painted ties.

In addition to her arts background, Linda has a BS in Biology and has worked for a communication company doing telephone/data installation and repair for more than 10 years.

Linda's other residencies with Leap have included projects using papier-mâché, piñatas, 3D model homes, clay sculptures, and marble roller coasters. Linda encourages her students to build kinetic sculptures, Rube Goldberg devices, and self-powered robots with common recycled items. When students make things move, they engage with the real world concepts of STEAM.
