CLASSES

Cara is native to the Bay Area and has had a passion for architecture and design since childhood. As an Architectural Teaching Artist, she enjoys sharing this passion with her students. Through architectural design, she hopes for her students to gain problem solving skills, become involved in the formation of their community, develop social responsibility, become visual and creative thinkers and discover who they are through their own architectural interpretations.

She has a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Colorado and over 25 years of experience working for both commercial and residential architectural firms in San Francisco, Denver and Philadelphia. Cara is a licensed architect and founder of her own residential design firm located on the Peninsula. Her firm designed and coordinated the building of a playhouse as part of Rebuilding Together Peninsula’s fundraiser Dreams Happen, and strives to connect with nonprofits that serve the community. She has taught lessons with Art in Action in elementary schools since 2010, and enjoys being a board member of her children’s Japanese cultural summer program Medaka no Gakko.
