Jindi Zhang

Jindi Zhang is a dancer, photographer, and bartender who grew up in Virginia and Ohio and now lives in the Bay Area. They started dancing 5 years ago, after being inspired by a music video. Since then, they have fallen in love with a wide variety of genres including modern, waving, west coast swing, and contact improv. 

Jindi loves (in no particular order) a good prompt, counterbalance, the swells in a song, the undercurve of a swoop, and things that feel like flying. This past year they have been thinking about what choreography can convey or make legible. Jindi believes one form of magic is being able to imagine something after seeing it happen.  Within their teaching, they believe in designing curricula that is responsive and reflective and utilize prompts that deepen self-understanding and exploration. In addition, Jindi focuses on choreography aimed to help students build and expand their dance language repertoires.
